Several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally owned business, rather than a nationally owned businesses, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers and farms — continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community. That’s why we have created BuyLocalBG.com. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive online and bi-annual print guide to help consumers act and buy locally more often than they are currently.
We know sometimes people aren’t able to do so but, when they can, they should buy local.

  2. Thanks Cliff. Glad to have your support!

  3. I agree with the “buy local” concept. My husband Andy & I own the Bowling Green/Warren Co phone book, and we are always on the look out for local support. Why spend tons more money to advertise in the other books when they just take all of the money out of town? We all live here, our kids go to school here, and we always buy locally when possible. Cheers to you Matt for pointing out something we all should be concerned about.

  14. Great blog! We’re always so excited to see how other folks are doing what they can to support the buy local movement. Best wishes to you!

  15. Excellent blog. I just got back from the Farmer’s Market, as it were. Great, natural food not poisoned with growth hormones and preservatives. No genetic modification. Just real food at the same price as national chains or cheaper.

Do you guys promote local artists at all? We’re coming upon our book launch next month and are seeking cover stories, author interview opportunities, and guest posts. I looked around for a contact form but didn’t see one.

Again, great blog! Buying local is definitely healthy for BG’s economy.

  16. BaldMansMarkings would love to become a partner as well! Please let me know how I can join. I sell every week at the Community Farmer’s Market and love the sense of “community” that buying local brings.
