About 8 years ago Jim Sears was close to opening the first Dog Biscuit bakery in Ashville, North Carolina. Lucky for Bowling Green, he became the first to start selling dog biscuits in Bowling Green at the SKY Farmer’s market. A move that has made this writer’s dog very happy.

It started on a trip to New Orleans, Jim Sears first laid eyes on the Dog Biscuit bakery and thought, “That’s weird.” Needless to say the weird became an inspiration. One where ‘Zutrav Dog Biscuits’ was born. Jim often times will source locally him products in the dog biscuits and when possible he uses natural as well. Often times playing with recipes to help make dogs healthy, happy and who doesn’t think their dog is Brilliant.

Dog approved baked goods!

“From Farm To Table” Getting To Know SKY Farmer’s Market: O’Daniel Farms.

With our new partner, SKY Farmer’s Market we’ve decided to look at each of the local vendors you can shop from. To be honest, some businesses have a hard time finding great produce from some of the big food companies. Still, many of the restaurants we cover use O’Daniel Farms.

The great thing we noticed at the farmer’s markets this past Saturday was the great following O’Daniel Farms has with their customers. Which says a lot. That’s why last year when WKU Public Radio did their feature on O’Daniel Farm we were excited.  After the WKU Public Radio story we went to O’Daniel Farm’s website and signed up for his emails.

Weekly, Joe O’Daniel sends out an email to everyone about what is available this week. So Sign up and get clued in. O’ Daniel Farms is a family owned and operated business. It consists of a 116 acre farm located on the Barren River six miles outside of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Joe and Debbie O’Daniel and their four daughters grow fresh vegetables, grass finished Angus beef, pastured poultry, pastured pork, free range eggs and vegetable transplants. All of their crops are grown naturally without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides with the exception of our asparagus, which has an herbicide only.
